New Year Resolutions

As the new year begins, almost everyone makes a New Year's resolution! But somewhere along the year, we lose our determination or discipline to continue.

What is a resolution? New Websters Dictionary's definition is this: Character of being resolute; determination; a formal decision; solution.

Okay, now we know that a resolution is a resolve to change something or a determination to change something.

As we make those 2019 resolutions, let us make the resolutions that will enhance our relationship with the Lord. In order to keep these resolutions we will need discipline. Let us look a some areas of our lives that need discipline.

  • The need to discipline our WILL

Roman 12:2 - "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

Ephesians 6:4,6 - "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;.."

  • The need to discipline our WAY

Psalm 25:4-5 - "Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."

Psalm 32:8-9 - "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee."

  • The need to discipline our WORDS

Romans 3:13 - "Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:"

James 1:26 - "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain."

James 3:5-6 - "Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell."

James 3:8 - "But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."

1 Peter 3:10 - "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"

  • The need to discipline our WORK for the Lord

Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

James 1:25 - "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

  • The need to discipline our WALK with the Lord

Micah 6:8 - "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

Psalm 84:11 - "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

I Kings 8:61 - "Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day."

When faced with temptations and struggle with decisions - we should ask ourselves "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?" Let us strive to be disciplined in 2019 and walk with Jesus.

Prepare Now for Your Eternity!

If you died tonight where would you spend eternity? Heaven or Hell? Only you can choose.
We make many choices during our lives - but eternity only has two choices - HEAVEN OR HELL!

If you choose TO BELIEVE IN THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF JESUS, HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS AS PAYMENT FOR YOUR SINS AND HIS RESURRECTION from the dead - you can pray this prayer and ask Jesus to save you.

Lord Jesus, I confess I am a sinner and need a Savior. I ask forgiveness of my sin and ask You to be my personal Savior. I am trusting in you and You alone for my salvation. I believe You suffered and died on the cross to pay the FULL price for MY sin and I believe you rose again from the grave and now sit at the right hand of God the Father. Thank you Jesus for saving me and giving me eternal life in heaven with you.

If from a sincere heart you have prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, it is now very important that you fellowship with a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church that can teach you and help you to grow in your new life in Christ.
